Thanks for tuning into Farming Insider!
This video is little more than a montage of our hay operations. Enjoy it and feel free to ask any questions. This is how we handle small squares using Arcusin Multipacks and Steffen System grapples.

Corporate "family farm" rounds up an estimation or uses basic math tricks to sound interesting... do you produce 3,650,000 bales a year or is 10,000 a day a gloat because of some seasonal calculation... 3.65M or "after 2 weeks our 140k bales average a production of 10,000 a day" nevermind, weak little square bales, thought it would be 5 - 700 lb round bales 10,000 of those is nothing.. why even put it on youtube? youve been beat by people that dont care and just live their lives and farm... like hundreds of times over back to the original argument, family farms produce only enough to feed the family, maintain and run the farm, and pay property tax.. if its not 100% blood working for you then you have to focus on profit and splitting it, which is not real living.... YES 1 farm hand invalidates all of the work and the lifestyle, if not then PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG by paying him in the product you produce

Brings back memories of baling our north 40. Course we used a jay wagon. And me and my brother Donnie were throwing hay on the wagon. While dad and Michelle stacked. My mom drives the tractor... I swear that day I vowed to never mess with hay again. Course if you were to call me to come up and help I'd make the journey . Certified CDL driver. And if you wanted to research me to operate equipment I'm game... just gimme a shout.

I don't get why you would want to make so many little square bales, wouldn't you want to save time and make some round bales? they would cut down on your time, money, equipment and not to speak of the soil compaction from all the equipment in the field to pick up all those bales. I know there's a demand for those bales, but If time is money, would you not want to be more efficient with it? Great job anyway!

Thank you! The premium available on small squares is well worth the time and equipment. In short, it pencils!

First time viewing. You have a great operation. I also do hay on a much smaller scale . I round roll the bales with a 4x5 ft mega wide 458 John Deere baler. And my son has a 5X5 mega wide 558 JD baler. I would like to know your thoughts about the Massey Ferguson tractors verses the John Deere tractors. How long have you been running both brands. I grew up with Massey Ferguson in the 1960's tru the 90's from the 100 series to 400 series. My oldest brother still has a 475 Massey Ferguson and another brother has a 450MF. Me and my son have John Deere's a 6125 and a 5320 and a 1040 JD and I have a 539 IMT tractor. I am about to be in the market to buying another tractor about a 80 to 90 hp cab. I be using it pulling the baler and Bushhogging. I just haven't been around the newer Massey Ferguson. I will probably buy a good used low hr tractor between 30 to 40 thousand dollars . I like the older 5425 or 5525 John Deere if I buy a Deere that what it will be . But I am interested in the Massey Ferguson 80 to 90 hp . How dependable are the last couple of generations of Massey Ferguson? Ya'll doing a fantastic job putting up hay . Back in the day we had to do it by hand .

I used a sickle bar mower up until 6 or 7 years ago. I had a 7 ft 451 New Holland mower . I could mow with it about as fast as I can with my dis mower except when the hay is wet (dew) or to thick. I have much less down time with the dis mower.

be safer if add camera too back and monitor in cab so drive don't look away from were he driving then looking back not watching were he going. i would connect trailer and feed/ stacker on back so as hay drop auto stacks them save time and money in fuel wear on machines lots hours saved.

As a boy when baling time came it was all hands and very little machinery and the young men in the area would go from farm to farm to help out, all small square bales as they had to be man handled. I don't think we had large square or round bales then and no one had the equipment to handle them anyway.

We had to put more claws on our grapples before it starting working really well. There is basically a claw in each bale on the top

2 ай мурун
Is there a big reason for the small bails , then wrapping a bunch of small bails into one bigger bail, over just using a big bailer and reduce the amount of handling??
Farming Insider
2 ай мурун
Oh Yes, absolutely. Could see differences of $100/ton + many years for the same hay. If you factor that in over abuncha acres we believe it pencils out
Ryan Hogan
2 ай мурун
@Farming Insider ok I guess that makes sense, and it’s a big enough difference to justify the amount of extra effort, and moving pieces of equipment .? Thanks for your reply., I guess I’ll do some research on how hay sells in different areas..
